Levels, results and security at a glance

What’s the difference between light and extreme?
Lower levels (high DPI + high quality) produce larger files with the best quality — ideal for printing. Higher levels (low DPI + low quality + downsampling) yield smaller files at the cost of image fidelity — best for sharing online.
Can I copy text from the compressed PDF?
Yes. We only re-encode images (lower DPI, JPEG re-encode). Text and vectors are preserved as-is, so the text remains selectable, copyable and searchable.
Will compression degrade the PDF quality?
Light/balanced (DPI ≥ 150, JPEG Q ≥ 70) — barely noticeable. Strong/extreme (DPI 72, Q 40–55) — image-type PDFs show visible loss. For scanned PDFs, stick to balanced or strong.
What is the max PDF size?
Up to 200 MB and 500 pages per file. If your file is larger, split it first (you can also use our PDF Watermark tool to clean or split).
How does the live size estimation work?
We use a “sample-and-scale” method: every time you drag the slider we take the first 3 pages of your PDF, actually compress them with the chosen level, then scale the ratio to the whole file. Each estimate runs in a few hundred milliseconds.
Is my PDF safe?
